Katherine Parker, a former Campus Ministry Assistant from this congregation, is a United Methodist Global Ministries missionary that this congregation supports with an annual pledge (currently $3000). Last year she was transferred from Cambodia to Nepal. Occasionally we receive updates by mail, and the letter below is her latest communication. Dear friends at Collegiate UMC/WF,

What a first two months in Nepal! Learning the culture through a home stay; apartment hunting; progressing in my Nepali language study (I just started the religious language modules).

Please check out the article “Like a Buffalo: Thirsty to Learn” in the Sept/Oct 2013 issue of New World Outlook to see how my host organization United Mission to Nepal is promoting literacy among Nepali women. Language opens doors for us all!

In October I will be presenting a workshop on linking nutrition and sustainable agriculture during the annual learning review. Thank you for your prayers and support as I begin this new ministry in Nepal.

Peace & joy,
Katherine
