Holy Week, the days from Palm Sunday (when Jesus entered Jerusalem) thru Easter Sunday (which celebrates the Resurrection), begins Sunday, March 29. Here are the upcoming activities coming up at Collegiate/Wesley. You’re always welcome at any of them!
Sunday, March 29 | 8:30 & 11:00 AM | Sanctuary | “Why Has it Been Wasted?”
This title could apply to the ointment the women poured over Jesus’ feet, to so many of our natural resources…and even our relationship with God! What have we wasted and why? How might we recover? Rev Jim Shirbroun, preaching. Mark 14:1-15:47
In addition, you are invited to bring a light jacket/coat for teens or adults to donate. We’ll be donating the coats to the Ames school district’s homelessness program as well as to other agencies. New or gently used. The coats will be placed on the altar as part of the worship service.
Maundy Thursday Worship
7:30 p.m. | April 2 | Sanctuary | “Covenant, Confession, Communion, and the Cross”
Come to worship as we remember what drew Jesus and the disciples to the upper room for the Last Supper and as we reclaim our places at the table and at the base of the cross. Rev. Melissa Warren, officiating.
Good Friday Worship
7:30 PM | Friday, April 3 | Sanctuary | “Death in a Purple Shroud”
We like Palm Sunday, and we love Easter, but Good Friday is part of the full story, too. This quiet, reflective service retells, through scripture and song, the story of Jesus’ betrayal and death on a cross. Rev. Scott Grotewold will lead this service.
Easter Sunrise Service
6:30 & 7:30 AM | Sunday, April 5 | Reiman Gardens
Join us for a joyful, interactive celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The services will be led by our youth, who will share their gifts of music and words. Worship will be held amid the floral beauty of the conservatory at Reiman Gardens.
7:30-10:30 AM | Wesley Hall
Please join us for fellowship and celebration at the annual Easter Breakfast. Egg casserole, baked goods, fruit, and drinks await you! There is no charge, so invite your family and friends to come!
Rev. Scott Grotewold, preacher. At the conclusion of the service, any interested persons may come forward to join in singing the Hallelujah Chorus.
5:30 PM | Sunday, April 5 | Annex Auditorium (faithspring)
