The last Collegiate/Wesley cookbook was published in 2004. It quickly sold out. The committee that worked on it learned a lot about the publishing process and has decided to create a bigger, better and more user-friendly book. Since then we have added new members and new church staff to our church family and have much better facilities to work with. Microwave cooking, online recipes, and convenience foods are common but do not replace paging through cookbooks. So we decided to update the old book and add new recipes.

We have a firm date for recipe submission: October 20. Recipes can be submitted on recipe cards, napkins, torn from a newspaper or magazine…the sky’s the limit! Scan or copy and email your recipes to Sherry Davidson, or Dolores Brown,, or drop them in the collection box on the table near the Main Entry (west door). The deadline date allows us to receive the best deal from the publisher to keep the price at $10 per book and have the cookbooks ready before Christmas.

The Super Supper Sampler Christmas mailer was a great success in 2004 and replaced Christmas cards for some. That mailer had 18 recipes, a blank page for your own “Christmas letter,” and took only one first class stamp. What a deal for only $1! It also gave us an idea of how many books to have printed. More details about how you can order these samplers will come later.

As before, all profits will go to allow people who do not have the resources many enjoy to have better meals, to encourage our faith community to understand the needs of others, and to provide funds to continue and perhaps expand the Soup Supper project.
