Lenten Book Study: “A Place at the Table: 40 Days of Solidarity with the Poor”
Thursdays of Lent (Mar. 6, 13, 20, 27, Apr. 3, 10, 17)
5:30 – 7:00 PM in the Fireside Room
In a culture built on consumption – especially food – it is easy to forget the poor that Jesus cared so much about. We get caught up in acquiring, buying, eating. Yet paradoxically, the more stuff we consume, the more our spirits wither and starve.
A Place at the Table invites you on a journey of self-examination, discipline, and renewed focus on Jesus that will change your life forever. Author Chris Seay is giving us a challenge: eat and drink like the poor for 40 days and donate the money you save on groceries to a charity or project that serves the poor in concrete ways.
We will read together the book, and share insights over a light meal. The book is $10 and can be picked up in the church office or ebooks are available. Contact Amanda Heeren to participate, firstname.lastname@example.org.
